[Recover Lost Files with File Finder] File Finder loads directly onto any computer by means of its disk drive and using the special miniature version of Windows opens that drive for file access. Once you have successfully copied out any important stored files from your crashed hard drive you are then free to reload Windows and restore your computer to full original operating status.

[Recover Lost Files with File Finder] Data recovery without using a data recovery service: When you load File Finder onto your computer by means of the disk drive your computer will start up using a miniature version of Windows Vista. Because your hard drive is never accessed to start the computer, the mini Windows is able to operate all of the basic functions on your PC.

[Thingy-Ma-Jig blogs] Mac Book Pro 100Gb 7200rpm Hard Disk Failure: (Different models, different hard drives manufacturers) Mine ground to a holt approx 2 mins after turning it on (wasn't remotely hot) and doing nothing more intensive than checking my e mail, (admittadely whilst on my lap.) [Moblin Project Documentation] Using the Moblin Live Image | moblin.org: And also I can confirm the Dell Inspiron 910 (Dell mini 9) does NOT work with moblin 2.0, it should really be taken off the list. Just because it "boots successfully" doesn't mean you can test-drive it effectively considering none of the wireless works.

[MacInTouch] Office 2004 (Part 6): The readers of the usenet group microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage seem to believe that the issue of corrupt Entourage attachments in Tiger is actually a result of Entourage not properly working with certain firewalls (specifically Little Snitch and NetBarrier). When Little Snitch or NetBarrier is disabled, apparently no one has the attachment problem anymore.

[MacInTouch] Mac OS X 10.4.10: Experiences: In regard to the Airport issue Terry McManus described with 10.4.10, my core solo Intel mini has the same symptoms - so it is not confined to the core duos (and unlike David Howe, my core duo also exhibits the same behavior.) However, the spinning beach ball is not necessarily forever. If you click on the airport menu bar icon and wait for several (many) minutes the menu will eventually drop and allow for a stop of airport.

[Overclock.net - Overclocking.net] [ODT]Freedom-Opera 10 new lab version - Overclock.net ...: Fixed Bug DSK-253386 (Crash when clicking help in startup dialog): show tooltip for 'no windows' option. Reinstate cancel button on dialog.

[MacInTouch] PowerBook G4: Hard Drives: Regarding Graham Needham's message regarding the 80 GB Toshiba drive failures in PowerBook G4s, I can say that my PowerBook G4 1.25 GHz with its original Toshiba drive is still going (no problems, no SMART alerts, knock on wood). In any event, ALL hard drives (not just Toshibas) will fail at some point and laptop drives are more likely to fail sooner than desktop drives due to the fact that they're generally subjected to more physical shock than desktop drives (constantly being moved around, etc.) and are made to tighter tolerances due to their smaller size, among other things.

[rfc1437.de: Aktuelle Einträge] Jeffrey Friedl's Blog » Jeffrey's “Export to Flickr” Lightroom Plugin: Internal change to the user-agent string that the plugin sends when uploading, to better conform to web standards Added back the ability to set the print size via DPI and inches/cm. I think it's more confusing than anything (because it has nothing to do with what size something gets printed at unless you take care to set the printer DPI the same), but someone asked for it and I should really leave it up to the user.

[MacInTouch] Hard Drives: RAID: The firewire unit comes with a firewire 800 bridge so it improves speed relative to more standard firewire 400 (which it also has) and takes advantage of the firewire 800 port in the iMac. I use the iMac firewire 400 port to operate a 1 TB time machine backup disk for daily backups and clone the server data Raid disks each night to a removable PATA hard disk which is swapped out once a week for the offsite backup.
